I received a call from my best friend Soo. It was a few days before her delivery date, and she had asked me to shoot her second daughter - Lashaeya WaWa’s portraits on the day baby is expected to land on earth; but since I had another shoot on the same day, we postponed it to another day. (Remember Latysha MoMo? She is WaWa’s big sister. I shot her 5th birthday party sometime ago. Do check out her photos here!)
This is my very first time capturing such a tiny little angel like Baby WaWa. I remembered vividly as I stepped into their home, I saw a sweet lil’ soul snoozing away quietly on her bed. She is just so cute, tender and pretty! I was engulfed in a very, very peaceful feeling when I start to capture her portraits, and it was also then, that I realized everything is so new for her…a new hope, a new destination and most of all, a new life lying all ahead of her.
Sometimes, we really need to feel like a newborn, to expect new things, to trace our dreams back again. We always give up easily especially when situations become unpleasant, or we take a few steps backwards when we have not-so-good experiences from the people we met or problems we find it hard to solve, and we start to tell ourselves, there is no new hope, tomorrow will be the same and as bad again, and it’s because we are not willing to forgive and forget these experiences from our mind and heart, but just keep reminding ourselves the bad things from the past to destroy any potential new and positive thinking. I am not perfect, so when there are times that I wanted to give up, I will read these Bible verses from Philippians: “Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead.”
It’s a brand new year, and therefore, there lies new hope…Have a blessed new year everyone!
Lastly, many thanks to Soo and Leong for trusting me to capture WaWa’s portraits and for appreciating my art! My heartiest congratulations goes out to the both of you for having another beautiful baby girl. May God bless your family, always.
Here are WaWa’s photos that I shot on the 3rd day of her beautiful new life…

These pictures bring tears to my eyes!!! Well done, Joshua. We can now remember how tiny those little feet are.
Waaaaaaaaa….nice!
Happy New Year Joshua!
